The Devil will give an ability in exchange for 20% of the character's base maximum health. Some abilities, however, are unique to The Devil, such as passing through walls, walking on water, or perhaps most notably, an extra life.
How to get the devil?[]
The Devil has a 100% chance of appearing after you defeat a boss if you do not take any damage from that boss. Otherwise, the Devil can still appear but with a much lower chance.

Only obtainable from a devil. Even though you can have more than one extra life, the revives do not stack. As of update 1.2.7, the exchange is 30% of your hp and is no longer the best devil ability.
Multishot is a really powerful ability. With the ability you can shoot 2 times for every shot. It's the most effective damage increase in the game.
While being a very strong ability, avoid having 3 front arrows because most of the time, only 1 or 2 arrows will hit resulting in an overall decrease in damage. However, dwarf does close the gap between arrows.
A good upgrade if you have life to spare.

Wall walker may not be a bad ability, it's usually not worth sacrificing health for it. Remember that even though you can move through walls, they still block your arrows.
